Need Health Insurance for Your Child?

If you are looking for health insurance for your child, CHIC might be the answer.

The Children’s Health Insurance Connection or CHIC, a program offered through the Adirondack Health Institute, connects children who qualify to New York State’s Child Health Plus and Children’s Medicaid Health Insurance Programs. To qualify for either Child Health Plus or Children’s Medicaid, children must be under the age of 19 and live in New York State. Your family’s income will determine which plan your child qualifies for.

Children who do not qualify for Children’s Medicaid can apply for Child Health Plus.

For most families, Child Health Plus may be FREE or have a small monthly cost. The cost is based on family income and the number of people in your family. Once enrolled in Child Health Plus you will be able to choose a health care provider from a list of participating doctors in your community.

If your child is enrolled in Children’s Medicaid, you may bring your child to any provider who accepts Children’s Medicaid. If your child is enrolled in Child Health Plus, you will be given a list of providers near you. The provider may be a single doctor, a practice of several doctors, or a community health center.

Click here to fill out the online application and begin the process so your child can receive a variety of services including well-child exams, physical exams, shots, x-ray and lab tests, outpatient surgery, emergency care, prescriptions, inpatient hospital medical and surgical care, dental and eye care, speech and hearing.
