Hudson Web 2.0 Over the next few days, we will explore Web 2.0 tools that may or may not have educational applications for your classroom. Our hope is that we will have opportunities to talk about what we like, don't like and want to learn more about. After we discover some of the new tools of the Internet, you will have a chance to create something meaningful to take back to your classroom this fall. |

What's the POD in PODcasting?: The Education Podcast Network
Podcasting is a way to create audio content much the same way that we create, edit and publish text to the Internet through a blog or wiki. When you subscribe to a podcast, through an RSS feed it goes into your "library" (I use itunes) From your "library", you can then listen to and/or download them to your ipod or mp3 player. Podcasting allows you to both create and share content as well as listen to others' broadcasts that might be of interest to you. Podcasts are a great educational tool for the musical and visual/spatial thinkers. RSS- Really Simple??? Streaming Rather than go one by one to the news sources and blogs that I follow, I subscribe to my favorites using RSS. While bookmarks bring you to a static webpage, RSS (readers) will bring you to the latest updates from these dynamic sites. Demonstrate RSS with NYTimes iTunes downloads DAY TWO LESSON IDEA: Brainstorm educational uses for podcasts and/or RSS in the classroom. Spend 30 minutes with online exploration.
