Session Three

A fractured fairy tale is created by taking a traditional tale and changing (fracturing) one ofthe following:

character: person or animal

 setting: time and place

point of view: who is telling the story

Authors usually created fractured fairy tales to entertain us with humor.

Read Falling for Rapunzel by Leah Wilcox.
How has the author "fractured" the tradional story of Rapunzel?

Today we will break into three or four groups.  Each group is assigned a  different play. This week the teacher reads the story to the group so that students will comprehend the associated scripts.   Over the next three sessions we will practice our readers' theater scripts and work on related projects.
