There are many books I would love to share with my students, not only for their literary value but also for the insight they provide into the various cultures we study in class. 

Extra Credit Opportunity

Upon completion of one of the recommended books, students are invited to participate in a "book chat" with me to demonstrate their understanding of their chosen book.   If is it clear they have read the book and can discuss it, I will drop their lowest grade for the current marking period.  Students can read 2 books per marking period.  What a deal!
