This week we honor a shooter, and a roller as our athletes of the week!
First up is Senior Taylor Markham from the varsity bowling team. Taylor’s coach says she is currently carrying the high average on our team with a 198.
“Taylor is a leader on the team in many ways. Not only does her performance inspire those around her to learn more, peers admire her character,’ said Bowling Team Head Coach Tanis Lydecker. “Taylor is one of the kindest, most sincere kids I have met in quite some time. She always includes everyone and makes each student feel welcome and successful.”
Lydecker went on to say that Taylor helps to make new bowlers feel welcome by does that by freely giving advice, and being a role model at matches. Off the lanes, Taylor is currently in the top 5 academically in her class.
Our second honoree is Sophomore Jonathan Beagle. Beagle is a two year varsity player, and is a starter as a sophomore this season. In his last two games Jonathan averaged 18 points per game and 11 rebounds per game.
“Jonathan is a hard worker and high character student-athlete,” said Head Coach Chris Cottrell. “And the attitude doesn’t stop once the game’s over. Jonathan is a hard worker both on the court and in the classroom.”
Congratulations to both of this week’s winners!
