Voters Pass 2026-2027 Budget
On Tuesday, May 19, Hudson Falls residents approved the district’s $58,555,715 million budget for the 2026-27 school year by a vote of 345 to 197. The results show 64 % of voters supported the budget.
The approved budget has a growth of 2.19%, with a tax levy increase of 1.9% Our spending in the 26-27 school year focuses on maintaining current programs and electives with a new math achievement diagnostic to better track and support student growth. Additionally the proposed budget includes a capital outlay project that will address safety, security, and HVAC needs across the district. Voters also voted on three proposition lines. They include a property purchase located at 76 Martindale Avenue, a purchase of three 30 passenger and two 10 passenger gas/diesel buses and vans, and a proposition for the purchase of a 27 passenger electric school bus.
“By approving this budget, the Hudson Falls CSD community has shown once again how deeply it cares about giving every single student the chance to thrive and succeed,” said Superintendent Dan Ward. “On behalf of the Board of Education, administration, faculty, staff, and students I would like to express my sincerest thanks to our voters for their support.”
By a vote of 372 to 170, voters passed a proposition to authorize the district to purchase property at 76 Martindale Avenue at the appraised price of $137,000. By a vote of 392 to 151, voters passed a $525,000 proposition to purchase three 30 passenger school buses and two 10 passenger transit vans. By a vote of 118 to 421 voters turned down the proposition to purchase a 27 passenger electric bus.
Voters also elected Jeffrey Gaulin to serve on the Board of Education for a five-year term. Mr. Gaulin ran unopposed and was elected to his third full term with 470 votes.
