Talking HF Tigers 5/21

Posted Date: 05/21/26 (03:30 PM)

A special Thursday edition of Talking HF Tigers with one last reminder that all school buildings will be closed tomorrow, May 22, for a snow day giveback. There will also be no school on Monday, May 25 for Memorial Day. I hope everyone enjoys the long holiday weekend.

Thank You Voters

On May 19, Hudson Falls Central School District residents voted to approve the district’s 2026-27 proposed budget with 345 voting in favor and 197 voting against the $58,555,715 spending plan for the 2026-27 school year. It is affirming to see that our Hudson Falls community is supportive of our school district’s proposed plans and are committed to providing students with as many opportunities as possible. The Board of Education and our administrative team are grateful for this vote of confidence from the people we serve.

Congratulations to Jeffry Gaulin, who was re-elected to his third five-year term on the Hudson Falls Board of Education.

Sports Update

The Unified Basketball team went undefeated in their regular season and won their first playoff game, setting themselves up for a championship game matchup against Hoosick Falls at the MVP Arena in Albany. The team had their first loss of the year in the championship, but we are so proud of this team and their second place finish. Students are already excited for next year's assembly game!

The track team also saw some great results at last evenings Foothills Championships in Schuylerville. Highlighted by Foothills Champion Clare Gauici in the Pentathlon with a remarkable 2220 points. Brynn Terry had a pair of runner up finishes in both the Triple Jump and the 400 meters. Brynn added a  fourth place in the 200 meters. Charlee Marshall-Pratt took second in the 400 meter hurdles, fourth in the High Jump and sixth in 100 meter hurdles. Aleah Englert and Caylee Hunt went fourth and fifth in the Long Jump. On the boys side the highlights were a fourth place finish by Jackson Sellingham in the 1600 meters, Alex Hay a sixth in the 800 meters and Jayson Talmadge with a fifth place in the 400 meter hurdles. Next up for Track is the Section 2 Championships on Wednesday.

The baseball team hosted Ichabod Crane last night in an opening round sectional game. It was an incredible game that saw the Tigers lose a heartbreaker 9-8 in 13 innings. Kaleb Johnson led the way for the Tigers with five hits and driving in four runs.

The girls softball team, despite losing a ton of seniors from last year's Foothills Championship team, finished fourth in the Foothills with a 12-7 overall record and an 11-5 league record. They will face rival Glens Falls in the Sectional Quarterfinals tonight (5/21) at 4:30 p.m. at Glens Falls. Good Luck Tigers!

Memorial Day: A Time For Reflection

Please take a moment during this four-day weekend to discuss as a family the meaning and purpose of Memorial Day. From our own Hudson Falls citizens to those from across the country who have made the ultimate sacrifice in giving their lives for our country, we must remember and remain grateful for our freedoms.

For the many students and residents who will participate in the annual parade through Hudson Falls, good luck! Enjoy the sounds of our High School Marching Band (weather permitting) as they honor service members who sacrificed everything in defense of our nation and freedoms.
