Talking HF Tigers 5/22

A special Thursday edition of Talking HF Tigers with one last reminder that all school buildings will be closed tomorrow, May 23, for a snow day giveback. There will also be no school on Monday, May 26 for Memorial Day. I hope everyone enjoys the long holiday weekend.

Thank You Voters

On May 20, Hudson Falls Central School District residents voted to approve the district’s 2025-26 proposed budget with 335 voting in favor and 154 voting against the $57,299,699 spending plan for the 2025-26 school year. It is affirming to see that our Hudson Falls community is supportive of our school district’s proposed plans and are committed to providing students with as many opportunities as possible. The Board of Education and our administrative team are grateful for this vote of confidence from the people we serve.

Also congratulations to Amanda Landsman and Samantha Melucci who were elected to serve five-year terms on the Board of Education that run from July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2030.

Sports Update

The girls softball team won the Foothills Council regular season title for the first time in 21 years and entered the Section 2 Class A playoffs as the number two seed. They won last night against Cohoes in the Quarterfinals and will host Lansingburgh on Tuesday, May 27 at 5:00 p.m. in the Semifinals. Be sure to come and cheer on the girls.

The track team also saw some Foothills champions. Nate Gonyeau was a double champion, being crowned in the 100 and 200 meter dashes. Jaymison Eisenhardt was champion in the long jump and tied for first in the triple jump but officially finished second losing a tiebreaker. The track team will compete in the Section 2 championships on Wednesday, May 28, at Averill Park High School.

The baseball team had an excellent year and is scheduled to host a sectional playoff game tonight, May 22, at 4:30 p.m vs Lansingburgh. Get out and support the Tigers as they aim to win their first sectional baseball game in over 20 years.

The Unified basketball team beat Burnt Hills 38-32 last night to advance to the championship game next Wednesday, May 28 at the MVP Arena in Albany.

Memorial Day: A Time For Reflection

Please take a moment during this four-day weekend to discuss as a family the meaning and purpose of Memorial Day. From our own Hudson Falls citizens to those from across the country who have made the ultimate sacrifice in giving their lives for our country, we must remember and remain grateful for our freedoms.

For the many students and residents who will participate in the annual parade through Hudson Falls, good luck! Enjoy the sounds of our High School Marching Band (weather permitting) as they honor service members who sacrificed everything in defense of our nation and freedoms.
