HFCSD mask requirements remain unchanged at this time

Dear Hudson Falls Families,

As has been reported by news outlets, on Friday afternoon, Dr. Howard Zucker, New York State Commissioner of Health issued a letter (click here to read) to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) regarding differing mask policies for summer camps and schools. Media coverage of this letter has led to some confusion.

We have been informed today by the New York State Department of Education, as well as the Washington County Department of Health that the letter has not changed any existing arrangements. Therefore, Hudson Falls CSD will continue to operate under their existing procedures until further notice.

Our policy requires 100% mask use on school buses, in classrooms, in school hallways, and on playgrounds. Students are afforded mask breaks through the school day, which include during times of physical exertions.

Due to the weather forecast of increasing heat, our district may make adjustments to mask use in accordance with applicable health and safety measures.

As the guidance from our partners in the NYS Education Department, NYS Health Department, and Washington County Health Department change, we will update our entire school community.

Should you have questions or concerns please email us at questions@hfcsd.org, or simply reply to this note.

 Sincerely,

Jon Hunter, Interim Superintendent
