Gear up, Tigers! We are officially entering that whirlwind time of year where the schedule packs tight and the days feel like a flat-out sprint to the finish line. As you pace yourself for the final stretch, please note that the Hudson Falls Board of Education has approved an update to our school calendar. Thanks to our unused snow and emergency closure days, next Friday, May 22, has been designated as a school holiday, meaning all buildings will be closed and there will be no classes in session. Enjoy the well-deserved breather!
Budget Vote and Celebration of the Arts
The annual budget vote will be held on Tuesday, May 19 from noon to 8:00 pm in the high school gymnasium. All Hudson Falls residents were mailed a budget newsletter and you can also find a pdf version on our website. You can find other budget information on ourwebsite. We encourage you to come out and vote on May 19! Our annual Celebration of the Arts will take place on the same evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the high school, featuring Kindergarten, 3rd grade, 5th grade and 6-12 artwork. The music department will also feature musical performances.
Junior Prom
The Hudson Falls Junior Prom “Enchanted Forrest” will be held this Saturday, May 16. The prom coronation will be at the high school at 5:00 p.m., then dinner and dancing from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. at the Surfside on the Lake, in Lake George. An after-party will follow at the same location from 9:30 p.m. to midnight. You will also see high activity levels in Juckett Park as prom goers gather for pictures. Please use caution in that area and help contribute to a safe day and evening for all. We wish our juniors and guests a happy and safe prom.
Colonial Days
Fourth and fifth grade students were treated to a day of living and working in the 18th century with the return of the annual Colonial Fest. Early American life came alive with oxen pulling heavy loads and stations of old time living and customs. Adding to the authenticity and excitement were appearances by historical reenactors portraying central revolutionary figures. The festive atmosphere sparked curiosity and appreciation about the founding of the nation and was a great celebration for this year's 250 celebration. Thank you to our Building Team and PTSA for their efforts in planning and bringing this event to life.
Science Symposium
Join us at the 11th annual Science Symposium on Wednesday, May 20, at 6:00 p.m. at the high school auditorium. Our keynote speaker is Sydney Keenan of Vassar College who is a 2023 Hudson Falls graduate. Seniors and juniors will present their research on stage, and every student will present during a poster session.
The research course is a three year elective, starting sophomore year, in which students choose a topic and carry out an original research project on that topic. The student does ALL that professional researchers do, from journal readings, to finding a research advisor, planning a project, and carrying it out to an appropriate research conclusion.
