With the first quarter at the middle and high schools now complete, parents can expect report cards to arrive in the mail by the end of next week. These are also accessible on the SchoolTool Parent Portal.
Scheduling Reminders
I would like to highlight a few schedule reminders for next week. Monday, November 10 will be our annual NYS required Emergency Release Day where students and staff are prepared in case an emergency ever requires school to release early. Students will be dismissed 15 minutes early. There will be no after school events that require bus transportation.
Next week’s Board of Education meeting will be moved from its usual Tuesday date to Monday, November 10 because of the Veterans Day holiday. The meeting remains at 6:30 p.m. in the High School Library Team Room.
On Tuesday, November 11, there will be no school in observance of Veterans Day. Let’s all take a moment to thank our Veterans and current service members for their service to this country. Their sacrifice makes what we all do on a day to day basis possible.
Important Busing Alert
We want to be transparent with our families about a challenge we are navigating. Like many districts, we are experiencing a significant shortage of bus drivers, which has unfortunately reached a critical point.
This means we may need to alter or combine bus runs, sometimes with very short notice. We deeply apologize for the inconvenience and instability this may cause your family.
We will always provide information about specific changes as soon as possible. To ensure you have the most current information, we kindly ask all parents to please check for ParentSquare messages each morning for any urgent transportation updates.
We are also looking for help. If you or someone you know has ever considered a rewarding role as a bus driver or bus monitor (either full-time or part-time), we would love to talk to you. Please contact our transportation department at 518-681-4552 to learn more.
Thank you so much for your partnership and understanding as we work through this challenge.
Thanksgiving Donations
The Hudson Falls community proves to be incredible time and time again with its willingness to help and support those in need. With this in mind, each school building is collecting non-perishable food items for Thanksgiving meals that will go directly to families in need within the district. Collaborations with Social Work Associates, High School National Honor Society and High School Student Council have provided a list of items to support Thanksgiving meal donations:
- Canned Cranberry Sauce
- Stuffing Mix
- Mashed Potatoes
- Gravy
- Canned Vegetables
- Boxes of Jiffy Cornbread
- Foil Roasting Pan
Donations will be accepted in the Social Work Associate’s office in the elementary buildings and High School Classrooms until November 21. Thank you for supporting our families!
