Talking HF Tigers 12/9

Your students come here to learn and be provided opportunities in and outside the classroom. I love to see when those opportunities can be grown and expanded. The formation of a girls hockey team is not only a great opportunity for the student who is on the team, but it’s a terrific chance for communities across our area to join forces in cheering them on.

HFHS Student on the Adirondack United

The 2023 winter sports season in our area rings in a new era. A girls hockey team, comprised of six Section 2 districts – Hudson Falls, Glens Falls, South Glens Falls, Queensbury, Corinth, and Saratoga Springs – is competing this year. My congratulations to HFHS student Haylee Flewelling for being a part of this historic team. Several weeks ago, News 10 did a feature on the launch of this new team and it’s a fun watch.

The team picked up a 10-1 victory in their home opener against Beekmantown Dec. 3 at the Glens Falls Recreation Center. They return to their home ice at the rec center this Saturday at 3:30 p.m. Filling the stands is part of the coach’s goal so let’s help make that a reality!

Tigers On Campus

A pair of Hudson Falls Tigers are making waves at the next level with accolades in their respective NCAA Division 1 sports. Jonathan Beagle in his freshman year at UAlbany, has already been named America East Conference Rookie of the Week two times in the young basketball season. Connor Murphy, a senior goaltender at Union College was named ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week in early November and is now 6th on Union’s all-time shutout list with 4.

Don’t Let Mother Nature Fool You: Inclement Weather Is Coming

The unseasonably warm weather we have been experiencing is wonderful. Yet, we must be prepared for inclement weather and how it can impact the school day. Please be sure your contact information is up-to-date in Parent Square so you receive notifications of any schedule changes. Also, if you have not already, please friend us on Facebook, or follow us on Twitter and Instagram. Social media channels are full of great student pictures and information, and another way you can get notified.

Grades 6-12: Watch for Your Student’s Five-Week Progress Report

The arrival of progress reports is a great chance to officially see where your student stands academically at an early point in the year. It is a chance to celebrate as well as address areas where a student’s growth may need additional support from you in concert with your student’s teachers. Regardless of where your student’s grades fall along the scale, please prepare now to speak with your child about what is working and not working for them in their classes. And reach out to staff members with questions. Together we can help students meet goals and succeed!
