Talking HF Tigers 4/21

Students in grades 3-8 may be coming home and answering your question, “what did you do today?” with, “I took a test.” We want to reassure you – and your student – that this “test” is simply a gauge by which we can determine how to better support them in the classroom. We can look at the overall results and adjust what we do to better support your child’s academic success.

Preparing Our Students for an Opportunity

In addition to the usual requests that students come to school well rested in preparation for taking the state ELA and math exams, there is another thing I’d like to see our families and students discuss. These annual spring examinations are more than taking a test, they are an opportunity to practice, and can be viewed simply as that – practice. As well as a chance to demonstrate what they have learned in English Language Arts and mathematics to this point in their academic career.

We appreciate all you do to support your students’ readiness to attend school as they progress through the grades toward their graduation!

A total of 46 students in the Kindergarten Center, Primary and Intermediate schools raised a total of $8,209 for the Ronald McDonald House.

The participating students received certificates, passes to local venues, slap bracelets, water bottles, said Heather Craner, elementary teacher librarian. Top fundraisers also received T-shirts and an invitation to tour the Ronald McDonald House. The best prize of all though was each participant was able to silly string their principal. Thanks to Mrs. Struwing, Ms. Whitman and Mr. McTague for being good sports.
