Student Belonging Pick-up and Chromebook Return

Student belonging pickup and Chromebook return: Grades Pre-K to 5 June 22 to 26 Grades 6 to 8 June 16 & 17, Grade 12: June 9, Grades 9-11, June 12&15

We appreciate everyone’s patience as we work to return all your student’s items at our buildings and return your Chromebook devices.

Families can return to buildings on the following days & times to retrieve their belongings, medications, and return their Chromebook. Details should also be provided by your child’s teacher. Below are the plans for each building.

Kindergarten Center:

  • We are planning to route all vehicles arriving at the building during the pickup window in the best possible fashion. Please pull up to the side exit of the KC Cafeteria on Clark Street. The ongoing construction dictates our use of the Clark Street side of the building for access, due to the closure of Locust Street.
  • Students will be provided personal materials from the classroom including Memory Book, report card, and progress reports. Items will be in labeled bags.
The bag of student belongings will be placed in the vehicle trunk or open door by a staff member. Please wear a mask during this exchange if you are able, and do not leave your vehicle.
  • As applicable, students utilizing devices for remote special services will return Chromebooks to a staff member.
  • At the end of each session, a phone call will be made to those families who pick up items, with an invitation to attend the open pick up time from 9-12 on Thursday.
  • Please feel free to reach us at 518-681-4500 for more information.

Middle School:

Middle School families will drive up to the semi-circular driveway area on their assigned dates & times. You will see a series of tables to drop off your Chromebook, then pick up locker items & medications and yearbooks.

Tuesday June 16 and Wednesday June 17 schedules

Rather than risk the health and safety of our MS students and potentially those they go home to, we decided to take the burden off them/you and conduct locker cleanout ourselves. We are working in teams of 10-12 people. We will carefully take all contents of the student locker, place them in a large plastic bag, the same ones our students use during all locker cleanouts (ie: Christmas break), tie them up, and place a pre-printed student label on them. We will not go through or throw out any personal belongings. All student materials will go directly to their bag. We will probably come across a milk carton with an October 2019 expiration date—we will throw spoiled food/drink items out. Our PE teachers emptied the gym locker’s following the same process. It was a little stinky—big thanks to our three PE teachers.
Nurses will be out front for medication pick-up. Any parent/guardian who needs to pick-up medication, will need to do that in person.

  • The alphabetical groups were organized based on size.
  • We are aiming for around 60 students per slot to control density and keep things moving quickly.
  • A big reason we are holding pick-up outside is the open air, the confines are much less restrictive, we won’t be required to check temperatures of every
student who enters the building and we feel the risk to students/families is much less. Bringing students in the building presents more challenges and risk.
  • As seen on the diagrams, we will use the semi-circle on Notre Dame Street for parents/guardians to pull into. We ask parents/guardians to stay in the car, again to keep the crowd density down. Students can line up down the sidewalk that leads to the large teacher parking lot. We will help with social distancing.
  • All students will start at Table 1, which is the Chromebook table. Per district procedure, Chromebooks must be returned as the first step in the process.
  • Once our IT Department collects the Chromebook, students will quickly be able to move through the remaining tables.
  • Per Governor Cuomo’s order regarding crowds, all individuals who will be in close contact with others are required to wear a mask. Please take this
precautionary step for you, for me, for our faculty, for their kids, for your kids, for everyone—it’s just something we need to do. Masks will be available.
  • Table 4 will be run by our nurses. Parents must pick up medication, not students. There will a bin for library books and a box for textbooks on Table 4.
  • Table 5 is for yearbooks. If you didn’t order and pay for a yearbook, you will go directly to your car after Table 3. 6th and 7th graders who ordered a yearbook,
can pick it up at Table 5. We have lists of everyone who paid, split up by home base. Provide your name, we’ll check the list and give you your yearbook.
  • All 8th graders receive a free yearbook. It is an annual donation from our wonderful PTSO. Since the Moving Up Ceremony is virtual this year, all 8th-grade certificates will be placed in the yearbooks. More details on the broadcast date of the virtual Moving Up Ceremony will be shared in coming days.
  • All instrument returns will be done after moving through Tables 1-5. Instrument returns will be returned at the D-Wing doors located near the large teacher parking lot. The instrumental teachers will be waiting at the entrance to receive instruments. They will communicate with families in advance of drop-off.
  • Any student who needs to use their Chromebook through June 17th can contact the main office at (518) 747-2121.

Lastly, we ask for your patience as we work to get 550 students and families through this process in 2 days. Be safe, be careful, be cautious while driving in the circle, and trust that everything we are doing is for the safety and wellbeing of everyone. We look forward to seeing all of you on June 16th and 17th.

Students will be returning school materials which include things such as textbooks, library books, calculators, and Chromebooks. Along with returning materials, students will be able to clean out their hallway lockers and pick up their gym locker clothing (will be bagged by the PE staff). Students will also be able to pick up pre-ordered yearbooks. Seniors will also pick up their caps and gowns in addition to their yearbooks. Any medications that are at school will also be distributed during these dates and times. Parents must pick up any/all medications. Medications will be available for pick up outside of the auditorium entrance on the sidewalk while students are inside the building

Students will enter the building via the gym entrance where their temperature will be taken. If a student has a temperature above 99.5 F they will not be allowed into the building. All students will also have to wear a mask or face covering while in the building. We ask that students bring their own mask if they have one. If students do not have a mask, one will be supplied by the nursing staff. After checking in with the nursing staff, students will be placing school supplies and Chromebooks in designated drop areas prior to going to their lockers. When dropping off Chromebooks please make sure that the Chromebook, charger, and case are returned together. Garbage bags will be available to clean out lockers and to carry home supplies. Students are welcome to bring in their own bags to clean out their lockers. It is important to note that all materials must be cleaned from lockers. Any items left in lockers will be disposed of by the custodial staff as they begin summer cleaning. This is a protocol that is done on a yearly basis.
