Dear Hudson Falls School Community,
On behalf of the Hudson Falls Central School District Board of Education, as well as our partners at WSWHE BOCES, I would like to thank you all for your input as we work together to find our next district leader. I feel that the qualities and qualifications you highlighted in both our online survey, as well as the virtual forum, showed us the heart of this school community. You want a leader that communicates, that empathizes, and will enhance the “Tiger Pride” in our district. The board of education shares your vision and the qualities desired in our next district leader.
The superintendent search has been a months-long process. At this time, we are engaged with our BOCES partners in a statewide search for candidates. We have fanned out across New York in an attempt to find not just the best candidate in our area, but the best candidate, period. We are hopeful that by conducting a thorough search we will be able to bring someone who can help build upon all of the good things happening at Hudson Falls, well displaying the qualities you showed us are important for our next Superintendent of Schools. The posting for the positions closes Jan. 15.
After the search ends, the Board of Education will begin the screening process. In a normal year, that might involve bringing candidates to the district, and meeting them face-to-face. In our current COVID environment, it will most likely be done via video conferences, with final arrangements to be determined closer to that process. We anticipate those interviews will be completed by the end of February.
Looking ahead, we want to invite our community back into the selection process. We will be forming an advisory committee made up of faculty and staff members, students, as well as members of our school community. It will be this committee that will meet with the semi-finalist candidates and get to know them; provide feedback to the Board of Education; and determine who should move forward to the next round of interviews. After the committee completes its work, we should have our final round of interviews around the last two weeks of March. The anticipated start date of the new superintendent is July 1, 2021.
