Talking HF Tigers 6/9

Time truly does pass quickly. But nothing makes it seem more like the blink of an eye than when you glimpse a Class of 2023 senior photo next to one of that same student when they were elementary aged. The annual Senior and Junior awards ceremony held this week concluded with a slideshow of photos that captured many of our seniors as young children in a variety of facial expressions, poses, and settings – including at school.

No matter the age of your student right now, take a moment to look at them and visualize them as high school seniors. From Class of 2035 current kindergarteners through to Class of 2024 current juniors and all in between. Time can pass quickly but it is what we do as a community with that time to further their growth – personally and academically – that matters. Class of 2023 students are ready to cross the stage June 24 and receive their diplomas. We have hundreds more students working towards that diploma, and with our ongoing support to provide them opportunities to be successful, I know we will get them across that stage when their time comes.

Recognized for Their Hard Work: Senior and Junior Award Recipients

As our seniors and juniors finish finals and complete other culminating academic activities, there was a short pause this week in the last push to commencement and the end of the school year. The Senior and Junior Class Awards Ceremony was held June 7. Every year I am further impressed by the number of students recognized by area and regional institutions of higher learning with awards, including some with impressive monetary amounts to help offset tuition. Please look through the recipient list and congratulate these students and their families!

Our MS Spelling Bee Champ Takes 10th at Regionals

Arianna LaPier spelled her way to a 10th place finish in the WSWHE BOCES regional spelling bee competition June 1. She earned her way to this level of competition after taking the middle school title for the 22-23 school year during competition last month. Congrats, Arianna!

Jamming June at the Primary School

Theme days at the Primary School are always a huge hit and this June our staff has provided something every day to keep the students excited to close out the month. Field day takes place Tuesday, June 13, with picnics, parties and Ice Cream Truck days on the horizon for this jam packed final month. Thanks to all the staff,  parents and especially PTSA who make this all possible. Students have worked so hard this year and are deserving of these end of year rewards.

Curtains on Concert Season

The 4th and 5th grade orchestra and the 5th grade band wrapped up a busy and unique concert season this past Wednesday. With the high school auditorium currently closed for renovations the music department made sure that the show went on by holding all spring concerts in the High School Gymnasium. Extra effort from all was greatly appreciated with many thanks to the music department and maintenance staff to make sure our students and families had the concert experience. I look forward to winter concerts in our newly renovated high school auditorium.
