HFCSD Identifies COVID-19 Positive Case at Middle School

Dear Tiger Community,

A member of the Hudson Falls Middle School staff has tested positive for COVID-19. Our first priority is always the safety of all of our students, faculty, and staff. We are currently working closely with Washington County Public Health as they identify this individual’s contacts. We are trying to be overly cautious with students and staff and therefore we anticipate that these contacts may have an impact upon a large part of the grade 6 student population, both Monday/Tuesday students, as well as Wednesday/Thursday students. Additionally, please be aware that Public Health has been experiencing delays in contact tracing. Washington County will reach out to all contacts as soon as possible and advise on the need to quarantine and to arrange to test those exposed.

At this time we will not make a decision about the return to school on January 4, 2021. However, information will be available on the school website by Wednesday, December 30 regarding return to school following the holiday recess.

Please note that New York State and Federal privacy laws restrict us from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information. We cannot identify anyone who has tested positive.

Thank you for your support as we work with our public health partners. We will continue to keep parents & our school community informed about any further changes to our learning.

Sincerely,

Jon Hunter, Interim Superintendent
